The Driving test
The first part of the test is the Eyesight check where the examiner will ask you to read a number plate from about 20 metres away.
Once that is out of the way the examiner will ask you 2 questions regarding the car these questions are known as the show me tell me questions, no need to worry about this, this is covered in the training you recieve from Shawpass Driver Training.
Once you have answered those few questions it is to the main point of the day showing the examiner how well you can drive.
During the test, the examiner will give you directions which you should follow, the test lasts about 40 minutes, During the drive the examiner will ask you to carry out 1 of 3 set exersises, the 3 exercises being Reversing Left, Turn in the road and the Reverse parking exercise, You may also be asked to perform the emergency stop exercise.
As of 4th of October for 10 minutes you will have to perform the Independent driving exercise, again dont worry about this, this is covered in the training you recieve from Shawpass Driver Training.
The examiner will not expect a perfect drive but he will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving. The examiner can make upto 15 minor faults but 16 or more faults results in you being unsuccessful with your driving test, however one serious or dangerous fault and you are also unsuccessful.
The best advice to pass the Driving test is to try to stay as relaxed as possible as you do with your driving instructor on your Driving Lessons, Just remember all the examiner wants you to do is to drive the way you normally do on a normal lesson, dont do anything different. The most common cause of not passing the Driving test is Nerves and the more experience you get on the road the easier it will be to drive when you feel nervous and unfortunatly we all get nervous at driving test time.
